Here are some methods for organizations to protect themselves against ransomware.

Commit to a strict patching schedule for both operating systems and any apps that run on them.

Do regular vulnerability scans and penetration test across the network

Improve password policies :
Encourage employees to use secure password managers, create longer passwords, and avoid reusing passwords across numerous accounts.

Principle of Least Privilege: providing users and administrators the least amount of access permissions they may require to accomplish their jobs

Eg: On a device they manage, users who do not need to install software should not be given administrative or root access.
